Discover and Explore your Passion – Annual High School Special Event Series

Hear ye! Hear ye! Dancers, musicians, thespians, singers and artisans, we request your presence at this year’s Arts Conference. On Friday, October 16, 2015 spend the day with us and ignite your creativity. Delve into intensive hands-on workshops in dance, music and theatre at Adelphi’s Performing Arts Center (AUPAC)—one of the most exceptional performing arts facilities on Long Island. The event also features a keynote speaker with theatrical flair.

2015 Keynote Speaker: Nikki M. James


Nikki M. James

Tony Award winning actress Nikki M. James just ended a successful run at Lincoln Center as Natalya in the new musical Preludes. Most famously, Nikki originated the role of Nabalungi in the Broadway hit musical, Book of Mormon, in which she won the Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Nikki has performed several sold out one woman cabaret shows at popular New York City venues such as 54 Below and Joe’s Pub.

Her latest film, Lucky Stiff  based on the Ahrens & Flaherty musical, just premiered at the end of July starring Jason Alexander .

No stranger to Broadway, she has starred in the productions of Les Miserables, All Shook Up and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Other theater productions include; Romeo and Juliet, Caesar and Cleopatra alongside Christopher Plummer, The Wiz, Bernarda Alba, House of Flowers and Walmartopia. Nikki’s theater workshops include; Lizzie in Baby (Papermill/NJPAC) and Beehive on Broadway. 

Nikki has appeared in a variety of TV shows such as Law & Order: SVU, 30 Rock, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Third Watch and The Jury.

She resides in New York City and holds a B.F.A. in Drama from New York University.

Workshops will be assigned on a first come, first-served basis. Workshop selection is subject to change. Students can select their top 4 workshop choices prior to the event. We will do our best to place each student in at least one of their top choices.

*Please come dressed to dance.
**Please come prepared with two copies of a piece to sing
The university will provide an accompanist
***Please bring your own instruments (The university  will provide a piano)

All students and faculty must sign the Photo Release Form. Faculty must either bring all collected, completed release forms on the day of the event or send them in advance via email to
