Adelphi Arboretum Tour

Did you know that Adelphi is a registered arboretum? Join fellow Adelphi community members in exploring the wonders of Adelphi’s expansive tree collection.

It’s EASY being Green

Love the Earth

Join the following Adelphi community members of various departments and organizations in their celebrations of Earth Day:

  • Division of Student Affairs: *Used bicycle raffle—$1 for 1 Ticket, $5 for 6 Tickets—All proceeds will go to Crossroads Farm at Grossmann’s, a certified organic farm just 3 and a half miles from the Garden City Campus.  *Recycling promotion/collection: bring your recyclables: we want your batteries, ink cartridges, bottles, and cans!
  • Residential Life and Housing’s Green Community: Bike Share Promotion, Green and Local Alternative Spring Break Recap
  • AU Athletics: Promotion of AU Softball’s Earth Day Double Header and Teracycle Collection
  • Collaboration Project: Bring over your clean spare plastic bags for the Collaboration Project’s Plastic Bag Recycling initiative.
  • PantherTainment Booth: Stop by for a water flask give-away and updated list of bottle filtration system locations.
  • SWAG: Social Work students selling “Dirt” treats!
  • SGA: Promotion of Smoke Free Campus and the elimination of cigarette waste
  • IT: Promotion of eRecycle Day—May 16
  • Student Counseling Center and Department of Public Safety: Promotion of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day—April 26

Walk for the Nature Conservancy
Join EAC members in downloading the Charity Miles app, and walking to raise money for The Nature Conservancy. For every mile walked, the NCAA will donate 25 cents to The Nature Conservancy. Please note: Student Athletes may not participate as this program is sponsored by the NCAA. Sponsored by the Environmental Action Coalition (EAC).

Green Faith

In celebration of Earth Day, Dr. George Russell of the Biology Department will be speaking on nature and the ability to connect and engage with our environment.  Refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the Muslim Students Association.

Earth Day Double Header

Come support AU Softball as they celebrate Earth Day in style! Festivities will include: the Panthercycle Pledge Kickoff, FREE Eco-Giveaways, and a Terracycle collection focused on the following E-Waste products: digital cameras and camcorders, GPS units, and graphing calculators. Sponsored by AU Softball and Athletics.

All are welcome at this traditional Green Council program, which for the first time ever, will be Res Hall wide!  In an effort to conserve energy, power will be turned off in all of the Residence Halls. Join us for a BBQ, live music, crafts, free giveaways, and the Panthercycle Pledge. Sponsored by the Green Council, Resident Student Association, Adelphi Hall Councils, Office of Residential Life and Housing, and Department of Facilities Management.

Ocean Awareness

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., University Center Lobby
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has scheduled another National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day to provide the public with another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by properly disposing of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs; no questions asked. Adelphi University has been chosen as an official drug take-back site. The Take-Back Drug Day is open to the community. Since the start of the program, Adelphi has collected over 75 lbs. of drugs that did not end up in the water table on Long Island. Sponsored by the Student Counseling Center and Department of Public Safety.
