Social Media as an Investing Resource


Guest Speaker: Brian Egger

Brian Egger is the publisher of, a popular investment website and financial blog. He is also a contributing writer for several prominent online publications, including and Yahoo! Voices. A nationally-ranked stock analyst, Brian has written extensively on a variety of investment-related topics. His new book, Social Media Strategies for Investing (Adams Media), is expected to be published during the autumn of 2014. 

While working on Wall Street, Brian achieved two second-place rankings in Institutional Investor’s “All-America Research Team.” He was also recognized six times as a Wall Street Journal “Best on the Street” analyst. Brian held positions of increasing responsibility as a senior analyst at Goldman Sachs, Donaldson Lufkin Jenrette, Credit Suisse, BMO Capital Markets and Topeka Capital Markets. He also served as Associate Director of Research at BMO and Director of Research at the Institutional Research Group. 

Brian has appeared numerous times on Bloomberg Television and CNBC. An experienced lecturer, Brian taught securities analysis courses to MBA students as an Adjunct Finance Professor at Columbia Business School. He received a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated magna cum laude, and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
