This is in honor of Food Day, Adelphi University’s Institute for Social Research and Community Engagement will host a screening of the film Food Stamped. This documentary follows a married couple as they attempt to eat a healthy diet on a food stamp budget. In addition to chronicling their experiences eating on $3 a day, the filmmakers talk with members of Congress, food justice organizations, nutrition experts, and people living on food stamps to take a close look at America’s dysfunctional food system.
After the film, there will be a moderated, audience-wide conversation about the issues it raises: Food insecurity, poverty, and strategies for change.
