Carol Sussal ’64, M.A. ’65, M.S.W. ’71, D.S.W., associate professor of social work, will moderate a special panel presentation, LGBTQ+ 101: Everything You Wanted to Know, but Didn’t Know Who to Ask, presented by the Adelphi University LGBTQ and Allies Committee of faculty, staff, administration and students.

A panel composed of members of the committee will share valuable information to help you remain at the forefront in helping students who are questioning or coming out and are in need of support on multiple levels.

The LGBTQ and Allies Committee works to build acceptance of our LGBTQ community on campus. Through dialogue with students and faculty, we help build respect and support across campus. We also provide a forum for LGBTQ students to meet, share their experiences and support one another.

You will leave the presentation with:

  • Knowledge that will help you connect with your students more sensitively and effectively
  • A stronger understanding of what it means to be an effective ally
  • Testimonials on what kind of discrimination LGBTQ persons face and what is particular to each subgroup
Breakfast will be served. Complimentary lunch passes and bookstore coupons will be available upon request. Student-led campus tours will be offered at the conclusion of the event.
