Recognizing Computer Viruses and Threats

Free workshop open to Adelphi students, faculty, staff and alumni.

This workshop will help you learn how to avoid becoming a victim to these threats on your work and home computer.

SecurityThere are hundreds of malicious programs that can cause damage to your computer, whether at work or home. They can also slow down your machine, and can use your computer to spread themselves to your friends, family and co-workers.

Here are some of the key points that we’ll cover in this workshop:

  • Follow the Do’s and Dont’s to avoid viruses
  • Obtain and install an antivirus program on your personal home computer
  • Enable Proactive Threat Protection (e.g., web browser security apps)
  • Schedule a virus scan to occur on a regular basis on your personal home computer
  • How Adelphi protects the network with our anti-virus protocol
