Rethinking the Academic Library

Event, Workshop

Bryan Lym

The Professor Spotlight Series Presents:

“Rethinking the Academic Library: A Place for Collaboration and Community”

with Professor Brian Lym, Dean of Adelphi University Libraries.

“Rethinking the Academic Library” will survey the major changes that libraries are now facing, and show how library leaders are helping their organizations evolve. Academic libraries in particular are undergoing a transition from being seen as repositories of books and other sources of information to being used as settings in which diverse members of college and university campuses come together to create knowledge and find community.

Brian Lym is the Dean of University Libraries at Adelphi and holds an academic appointment as full professor in the Library department. Mr. Lym has more than 20 years of progressive experience as an academic librarian working in large college and university systems.

The Professor Spotlight Series provides a forum in which scholars who have cross-cultural expertise or international experience can interact with students in an informal setting. It is part of “Intercultural Connections,” a Learning and Writing Center program that brings American and international students together for friendship, cultural exchange, and language development.
