The Spring Festival is Chinese New Year and it falls the 1st day of the 1st lunar month. It originated in the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600 BC-c. 1100 BC) from the people’s sacrifice to gods and ancestors at the end of an old year and the beginning of a new one. For the Chinese people, the Spring festival is the most important holiday and it is when all the family members get together, just like Christmas. This year is the year of the monkey and we will be celebrating it on Thursday February 18 at the Performing Arts Concert Hall.
