Full-Time Non-Union and Full-Time Local 153 Employees

Programs available to employees who register on a first-come, first-served basis.

All employee parking incentive programs will begin on Thursday January 23.  If you are currently enrolled in one of the programs no further action is required. Any eligible employee who wishes to join a parking incentive program for the Spring 2014 semester must register no later than January 31, 2014.

Below is an outline of the programs, their terms and the enrollment process.

Employee Incentive Program #1

This parking program will take place Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. while classes are in regular session for the Spring 2014 semester (i.e. not in effect during spring break, finals week, summer or intersession) and is open only to full time Local 153 employees, public safety, 1102, APPWLU and full-time non-union employees

To thank our employees who help us meet our goal of 200 vehicles parking at the 11thStreet location between Washington Avenue and County Seat Drive, the University has agreed to grant (2.5) additional paid days off as “parking incentive days” to the first 200 eligible employees who routinely work normal business hours and who agree not to park their University registered private vehicle on the Garden City campus Monday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. but at the alternative location for the Spring 2014 semester.

The Adelphi Panther Express shuttle buses will operate approximately every 15 minutes during these hours. In addition, these employees will receive a complimentary “Friend of the Chamber Benefit Card” that will provide discounts to local restaurants and merchants in Garden City.

This parking incentive offer is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline to enroll in the program is January 31, 2014

You will earn 2.5 days off as parking incentive days per semester at the conclusion of each semester. If you choose to withdraw from the program during the semester, you forfeit your earned “parking incentive days” and are not eligible for any parking incentive days.

Parking incentive days must be used by the end of the 2013-2014 academic year, and any unused time is not eligible to be paid in lieu of taking time off.  As with all time off, advance notice and supervisor approval is required.

Terms of the offer: Any employee who agrees to participate in this Parking Incentive Program must have his/her car(s) registered with the Department of Public Safety as of the date of this memo and must routinely park on the Garden City campus during the semester Monday through Thursday during normal business hours. Employees who volunteer to participate in the incentive program will receive a new parking decal; if a vehicle with this decal is parked on the Garden City campus during the times of the program, the vehicle is subject to a $50 fine and the participant will be removed from the program and lose any earned parking incentive days.

You can enroll in this program by contacting Joe Goodrich, Manager of Transportation and Parking Services in the Department of Public Safety & Transportation by phone at 516.877.3503 or by email at goodrich@adelphi.edu.

Employee Incentive Program #2

Employee Incentive Program #3

The Village of Garden City Trustees has graciously agreed to provide 40 specific parking spaces on the North Side of the Nassau Blvd. Long Island Rail Road station in designated Adelphi University parking areas. To thank our employees who help us meet our goal of 40 vehicles parking at the Nassau Blvd. LIRR station, the University has agreed to approve a $75.00 gas card to the first 40 eligible employees.

These (40) spaces will be available to any employee on a first come basis who routinely parks on the Garden City campus Monday through Thursday during peak business hours (9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) while classes are in session. Any employee who only works on a Tuesday and Thursday during peak business hours are eligible for this program.

There will be an Adelphi University Panther Express shuttle that will operate approximately every 15 minutes during the hours of 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday, while classes are in session. The Panther shuttle will pick up passengers on the South Side of the Nassau Blvd. LIRR station at a designated area.

Participants in this program must agree to only park at the Nassau Blvd LIRR station while classes are in session. Employees who are currently enrolled in an existing parking incentive program are not eligible to receive this parking permit.

Employees who volunteer to participate in the incentive program will receive a new parking decal; if a vehicle with this decal is parked on the Garden City campus during the times of the program, the vehicle is subject to a $50 fine and the participant will be removed from the program and lose any earned parking incentives.
