| For our 4th Outdoor Sculptur Biennial, we selected 14 sculptures ranging in style and concept. From formalist, primary structures to works dealing with social and political issues, the 2006 installation is an exciting, thought-provoking mix of works in a variety of sculptural media. Distinguished sculptors from numerous locations around the U.S.A. and Europe have installed this impressive outdoor exhibition of contemporary sculpture. A special thank you to Biennial co-curator and Adelphi Adjunct Professor Bill Shillalies. Professor Shillalies is the artist who brought the Outdoor Sculpture Biennial Exhibition concept to Adelphi University in the year 2000.
Thank you also to artist An Ti Lio, our Fine Arts Professional Technician; to Adjunct Professor Puneeta Mittal; to Eliz Alahverdian, University Art Collection Curator; to graduate assistants Carlos Rosado and Dominic Sparano and to student assistants Cara Wolf and Kerry Stroface for their tireless assistance and expertise.
A great deal of gratitude to the University Facilities Staff - directors Jim Kaloski, Bob Shipley, and Bob Conaghan; fabrication specialists Sammy Suarez, Henry Acosta, and Paul Campbell; and to landscape installation engineers Jimmy Campbell, Ron Soto and Frank Simeone.
In conclusion, I wish to thank the sculptors for this wonderful collection of creative work. During the next two years, this exhibition will touch the lives of hundreds of people in the Adelphi University community and thousands of visitors from the metropolitan New York area and beyond.
