Dr. Robert Allyn Scott to be Inaugurated as Adelphi's Ninth President
Inauguration To Take Place on May 5, 2001

Dr. Robert Allyn Scott will be inaugurated as the ninth president of Adelphi University on Saturday, May 5, 2001 at 11:00 AM. The ceremony will take place at Adelphi's Garden City campus, on the Levermore Lawn. A reception will follow.
Later that evening, Adelphi will officially welcome Dr. Scott at The President's Gala in the Ruth S. Harley University Center. The cocktail hour will begin at 7:00 p.m.; dinner at 8:00 PM. The Gala, a black tie affair, will further honor three community leaders: John J. Gutleber, Douglas W. Kurz and Carol Lindemann.
John J. Gutleber is the president and CEO of Castagna Realty. He received his B.B.A. from Adelphi in 1968 and M.B.A. in 1970. He is honored as 2001 Outstanding Alumnus. Douglas W. Kurz is managing partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He has been named the 2001 Outstanding Long Island Executive. Carol Lindemann, who received her Ph.D. from Adelphi in 1970, is director of the New York Psychological Center and president of the Lindemann Foundation. She will receive the 2001 Outstanding Service to Adelphi Award.
All proceeds from the Gala will be used for student scholarships.
Dr. Robert Scott joined the Adelphi community as its president, chief executive officer and professor of anthropology and sociology in July 2000. From 1985 until July 2000 he served as president of Ramapo College of New Jersey. Dr. Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Bucknell University and his Ph.D. at Cornell University.
