The Adelphi University Community Service Recognition Award Ceremony, sponsored by the Public Safety Department, was held on April 18, 2002 at 5 p.m. in Alumni House. This year recipients were:
- Nassau County Police Department 5th Precinct
- Nassau County Police Department 3rd Precinct
- Nassau County Police Department Special Investigations Squad
- Garden City Police Department
- Garden City Fire Department
- Winthrop University Hospital Emergency Services Unit
- Nassau County Emergency Ambulance
- Hempstead Police Department
- Garden City Department of Public Works
More than 100 guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres during the award ceremony.
