Pulitzer Prize-winning Author Jane Smiley Lectures at Adelphi University
Her talk included readings from her works

On Wednesday, May 1, Jane Smiley was the featured speaker of Adelphi University's Rita Diamandopoulos Lecture. Her talk "Women Into Novel" included readings of various excerpts from her works.

A writer of broad appeal, Jane Smiley received the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award for her novel A Thousand Acres (1992). The book was made into a film featuring Michelle Pfeiffer and Jessica Lange.

Her works include the novels Barn Blind, The Greenlanders, Duplicate Keys, Moo, and The Age of Grief, a collection of stories.

Smiley's most recent novel, Horse Heaven, is an exploration of the world of horse racing.
