Prof. Raysa Amador Co-authors Book on Latin American Artists and The Female Body
Written with Prof. Mireya Perez Bustillo of the College of New Rochelle

Garden City, NY
June 24, 2002

Dr. Raysa Amador, Associate Professor of Languages and International Studies at Adelphi University, has co-authored The Female Body: Perspectives of Latin-American Artists (Greenwood Press, 2002).

For several years, Dr. Amador and her co-author, Dr. Mireya Perez Bustillo, a professor at the College of New Rochelle, researched the many ways Latin American authors and artists illustrate the female body, both visually in art, and in literature. In The Female Body, excerpts from works of Latin-American female writers and artists are used to explore the perception Latin-American women have about themselves.

The book includes a forward by Elena Poniatowska, one of Mexico's most renowned authors, and author of Dear Diego, which is examined in Amador's and Bustillo's book.
