Adelphi University Opens New Hauppauge Center
Grand Opening and Open House held

Garden City, NY
August 20, 2002

A grand opening ceremony and open house for Adelphi's new Hauppauge Center was held on August 20, 2002 at 4:00 PM. The center is located at 55 Kennedy Drive in Hauppauge and replaces Adelphi's center in Huntington, which was active for 28 years.
President Scott and local politicians participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony during the event. In addition, guests were invited to tour the facilities, pick up program information and meet with professors and academic/financial aid advisers. Call 516.877.3050 for more information and directions.
President Scott states: "We are especially pleased that Adelphi will continue to deliver and enhance its educational programs in Suffolk County, where over 20,000 Adelphi alumni already reside."
The 7,600 square-foot Hauppauge Center will serve students in the Schools of Business, Education, Social Work and Nursing. All students will have access to the Center's student lounge area, multimedia facility, and library. Courses will be held at convenient times on weekdays and weekends.
Programs of Study at the Hauppauge Center include the following:
Adult Baccalaureate Learning Experience (ABLE)
Designed for adults 21 or older, the ABLE program allows students who are balancing careers and families to earn their associate's or bachelor's degree quickly, through 4-credit courses. The ABLE program offers the following courses of study:
- Associate of Arts in liberal arts
- Bachelor of Arts in social sciences
- Bachelor of Science in management and communications
- Bachelor of Science in criminal justice
Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.)
The M.B.A. program is designed to serve middle-level professionals and others seeking advancement in management careers. M.B.A. students may specialize in:
- Corporate Finance
- Management/Human Resources
- Marketing/E-commerce
Education
Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Technology
Adelphi's Educational and Leadership Technology program offers a combination of theoretical and field-based studies that will enable students to work in positions of educational leadership such as principal, assistant principal, and department chairperson or supervisor. This program is the only one of its kind on Long Island, and seeks to incorporate an understanding of the importance of technology in education. As the program is multidisciplinary, it is offered in conjunction with the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Business.
Social Work
Master of Social Work
Adelphi's 64-credit Master of Social Work program involves advanced coursework as well as direct field practice. The School is affiliated with over 1,000 field agencies on Long Island, and in New York City, and as well as in Connecticut and New Jersey. Students may elect to enter the program on a full-time, part-time, or accelerated track.
Nursing
The mission of the Adelphi's School of Nursing is to educate nurses who will be influential in the transformation of health care in the 21st century. As a constituent of the University, the School of Nursing is committed to the study of liberal arts, sciences, and nursing. Baccalaureate education in nursing is the foundation for professional practice.
