Adelphi University Appoints James McGowan Associate Director for Off-Campus Programs
McGowan's appointment coincides with the grand opening ceremony for Adelphi's new 7,600 square-foot off-campus center

Garden City, NY
September 19, 2002

Adelphi University is pleased to welcome James (Jim) McGowan to Adelphi as the Associate Provost for Off-Campus Programs. He was most recently the Director of Mercy College's Westchester Sites.
His appointment coincides with the grand opening ceremony for Adelphi's new 7,600 square-foot off-campus center at 55 Kennedy Drive in Hauppauge, which opens up the university's full range of courses to Suffolk County. Mr. McGowan's responsibilities will include a commitment to continuing the Adelphi tradition of convenient, high quality education for the Long Island community, responsibility for the Manhattan site in New York City and the site in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Off-Campus programs are an important part of Adelphi's vision for the future, and the 7,600 square-foot Hauppauge Center which opened on August 20th replaced Adelphi's center in Huntington, which was active for 28 years. Jim McGowan has over ten years' experience in the coordination and administration of off-campus programs and over fifteen years' experience in higher education. As a certified School Psychologist, he brings an academic's perspective to the role of Associate Provost, and will deliver and enhance the full range of Adelphi University educational programs across the state.
Provost Marcia Grosse Welsh states: "Jim comes from a strong background in off-campus programs and will be a tremendous asset in promoting Adelphi at our many centers and sites. Adelphi has much to offer the Long Island community and I know those virtues will be enhanced by his experience."
