Adelphi University Presents Lecture by Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Jared Diamond
Dr. Diamond to deliver the annual William E. Simon lecture in American civilization and values

Adelphi University is pleased to present a lecture by Jared Diamond, the celebrated author on Wednesday October 23. Professor Diamond will be delivering the annual William E. Simon Lecture in American Civilization and Values. Co-sponsored by the Adelphi University International Initiatives Commission, the event begins at 8:00 PM in the University Center Ballroom, and is free and open to the public.
Jared Diamond is an author, physiologist, and evolutionary biologist. Dr. Diamond is also a medical researcher and professor of physiology at the UCLA School of Medicine. His book, Guns, Germs and Steel won a Pulitzer Prize and The Third Chimpanzee was a best-selling award winner. Elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences and the American Philosophical Society, Professor Diamond is a MacArthur Fellow who has published over 200 articles in Discover, Natural History, Nature and Geo magazines and confronted a wealth of other questions about human societies in his Pulitzer Prize winning book. Dr. Diamond's findings offer a wealth of implications that have earned him several prestigious awards such as the Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement and the National Medal of Science.
