Adelphi University Co-Sponsors "Justice for All" an All-Day Conference to Support Individuals with Disabilities
Conference examines legal rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities and the campus community

Adelphi University is proud to be a co-sponsor with hosts Nassau Community College and Long Island College Counselors for Students with Disabilities, with Molloy College, St. Joseph's College, SUNY Farmingdale, Hofstra University, SUNY Stony Brook and Suffolk County Community College for an examination of legal rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities and the campus community, featuring America's most prominent attorneys in the field of disability law and higher education, Jeanne M. Jeanne M. Kincaid is a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law and is a partner in the law firm of Zelin, McCormack & Kincaid in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Ms. Kincaid writes and lectures widely in the area of disability law and education and has been an adjunct faculty member for graduate and law students on campuses. The emphasis of her legal practice is representation of schools and universities on issues concerning both students and employees with disabilities. Ms. Kincaid formerly held staff attorney positions with the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights, the Oregon Department of Education and served as a hearing officer for the Oregon Bureau of Labor and the New Hampshire Department of Education. Ms. Kincaid has authored book supplements to Section 504, the ADA and the Schools and is a contributing author to the publication Disability Compliance for Higher Education.
Adelphi University's Disability Support Services Office promotes awareness and faculty are encouraged to participate in the upcoming Disability Awareness Week, Monday, November 4th to Thursday November 7th. Adelphi can expect that 1 in 11 of incoming freshmen will have some type of disability. About 25% are students with learning disabilities. The goal of the Office of Disability Support Services is to assist the faculty in maintaining high academic standards while providing necessary accommodations.
