Dr. Robert A. Scott is pleased to present the President's Series on Critical Issues at Adelphi University. The breakfast series provides students, scholars, and distinguished guests with a forum in which to explore critical local, regional, national, and global topics, such as the environment, health, politics, law, and government regulations. Assemblyman Tom Di Napoli's presentation will begin at 8:00 AM in The Alumni House, Cambridge Avenue, Garden City. These events are open to the public but reservations are required. DiNapoli will focus his remarks on legislation he is introducing to (1) refinance the state's "Superfund" to clean-up the numerous hazardous waste sites throughout the state; (2) codify a Voluntary Brownfields Cleanup & Re-Development Program. Other issues he will address include: (a) state financing for environmental protection, (b) reducing greenhouse gas emissions in cars, (c) expanding the "bottle bill" requiring deposits on more beverages and capturing the unclaimed nickels to enhance local recycling and provide fiscal relief to local municipalities.
