Ambassador Hynek Kmonicek Addresses Adelphi University
"Czechs, Slovaks and Gypsies"

Adelphi University presented a lecture on Monday March 3, 2003 by Ambassador Hynek Kmonicek entitled "Czechs, Slovaks and Gypsies." The Honorable Hynek Kmonicek is the Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the United Nations. His lecture encapsulated a lifetime of international experience as his country's Deputy Foreign Minister, as well as positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Director General for Asia, Africa, and the Americas, and Director of the Middle East and Africa Department.
The lecture was sponsored by the Adelphi's International Initiatives Committee, which is also sponsoring a major exhibit until March 14 in The University Center Lobby on "Poverty and Health: Challenges to Development in Africa," with a major reception at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 7, 2003 featuring representatives from the Regional Office for Africa of the World Health Organization.
