Garden City, NY
April 7, 2003

Adelphi University presents "Unsung Larson" with works by the late Jonathan Larson directed by Maggie Lally, a classmate of Larson's at Adelphi, and staged and choreographed by Regina Larkin, on April 8-9, 2003 in the Olmsted Theatre. Call the Box Office at 516.877.4010 for tickets.
The hit Broadway musical "Rent" was written by Jonathan Larson, an Adelphi alumnus and a friend and former student of Chair of Performing Arts Nicholas Petron. (Larson died in 1996 at age 35.). Larson's achievements have brought national and international attention to Adelphi's Department of Performing Arts which, under Petron's guidance, prepares the directors, actors, dancers and choreographers of tomorrow. The program, one of the best in the region, attracts over 800 students.
Profesor Petron says, "One of Jonathan's goals as a writer was to bring his generation back to the theater, and he accomplished that. 'Rent' is to his generation what 'Hair'was to mine."
Press Note: Larson's parents will be attending at least one of the shows and are available for interview.
