Benefit Run Returns to Adelphi University, Benefits Breast Cancer Hotline and Student Athletes

On Saturday, May 3rd, 2003 the 6th Annual Community Road Race returns to Adelphi University. This year's event is being held in conjunction with Adelphi's Reunion Weekend 2003. Proceeds of the 6th Annual Adelphi Community Road Race will benefit the Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline as well as the Adelphi SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee). Many awards will be given including Adelphi students, faculty/staff, alumni, Garden City residents and age group categories. This 5K Road Race and 3K Walk Race starts promptly at 10:00 AM. All runners will be charged a registration fee. Prior to April 25th, the cost for AU students is $5 and all other adults are $10. Late registration is $6 for AU students and $15 for all other adults. The first 100 entrants are guaranteed to receive a free T-shirt. All participants are automatically entered in the post race raffle. The courses of both the run and the walk tour through the scenic streets of Garden City with split times at the 1 and 2 mile marks and a water station for the runners.
In addition to the run and walk races, there will be children's races (ages 3 to 11) held at 9:30 AM in the Woodruff Hall Gymnasium, the same location as race check-in and registration. All children receive run numbers and ribbons. The fee is $1. Past race results, race details and a printable entry form are all available on Adelphi Campus Recreation's Web site.
