Adelphi University Renames School of Business Building to Hagedorn Hall of Enterprise
The dedication was followed by a Symposium on Corporate Social Responsibility

Garden City, NY
April 30, 2003

Adelphi University has designated the building that houses the School of Business as the Hagedorn Hall of Enterprise in a Dedication Ceremony on the Garden City campus. Noted Long Island business leader and philanthropist Horace Hagedorn and his wife Amy Maiello Hagedorn recently made a gift of $1 million to Adelphi University, the largest gift from a living individual in the school's history. The grant was awarded through the Horace and Amy Hagedorn Fund in the Long Island Community Foundation, a division of The New York Community Trust.
"With around 15,000 alumni from The School of Business, we have made great progress," said Dean Anthony F. Libertella, "but none of it could be achieved without the generous support of people like Horace and Amy Hagedorn."
The Dedication Ceremony, presided over by Adelphi President Robert A. Scott, was followed by a Symposium on Corporate Social Responsibility in honor of the Hagedorns. The New York Times Sunday Magazine columnist Randy Cohen delivered a speech on "Everyday Ethics," to which there were responses from Harriet Green, Vice President for Worldwide Marketing for Arrow Electronics, Richard Galant, Deputy Managing Editor for Newsday, and Dr. Samuel M. Natale, Professor of Administrative Science in Adelphi's School of Business, in which Adelphi University will inaugurate an annual program on corporate social responsibility named for Mr. Hagedorn.

President Scott states: "Horace Hagedorn is a widely respected, innovative business executive in a variety of endeavors, an entrepreneur recognized for his commitment to high ethical standards, and a leading philanthropist whose generous support has aided substantially a diverse group of educational, health, social service and environmental organizations. He and Amy have certainly enhanced the quality of life in the communities of Long Island. We value their friendship and are pleased that they have agreed to allow Adelphi to recognize them in this way."
