Dr. Pearl M. Kamer to Join Adelphi Business School as Professor of Finance

Adelphi University President Robert A. Scott has announced the appointment of Dr. Pearl M. Kamer, the Long Island Association's Chief Economist, as Professor of Finance in the Business School's Department of Finance and Economics. Business School Dean Anthony Libertella has asked Dr. Kamer to develop an institute for the study of international business in the fall as a broad-based educational forum for issues pertaining to the global economy.
In announcing the appointment, Dr. Scott noted, "Dr. Kamer is the perfect choice to provide Adelphi students with a solid foundation in finance and economics. As the chief economist for Long Island's largest business organization, she has monitored the local, regional and national economic trends affecting Long Island for the past thirty-eight years. The combination of her unique expertise and professional distinction will provide an extraordinary resource for the entire university."
Dr. Kamer received her Ph.D. and M.B.A. degrees from New York University and her undergraduate degree from Queens College. She is past president of the Metropolitan Economics Association and the New York Regional Economists Society. Dr. Kamer currently serves on the boards of the Health and Welfare Council, the Route 110 Redevelopment Corp., The Suffolk Community Council, and the Broadhollow Bioscience Park, located on the campus of SUNY Farmingdale, She has taught at SUNY Stony Brook, Hofstra University, New York University and Queens College, and is the author of two books: Crisis in Urban Public Finance and The U.S. Economy in Crisis, Adjusting to the New Realities. She served as Director of the International Trade Research Institute at C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and has been active in conducting global trade conferences and seminars directed to business and academic communities.
