Congressmember Peter King to Talk on Homeland Security

Congressman Peter T. King will lead off Adelphi University's 2003-2004 President's Series on Critical Issues with his talk on Homeland Security and the War on Terrorism on September 15, 2003 at 8:00 AM in Adelphi University's Alumni House located at 154 Cambridge Avenue, Garden City, NY. The lecture is free and open to the public, but reservations are required.
Congressman King is currently serving his sixth term in the United States House of Representatives. He was first elected in 1992 to represent New York's Third District, and serves on the Select Committee on Homeland Security, International Relations Committee including the Subcommittee on Terrorism, and the Committee on Financial Services where he is chairman of the Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy.
During his time in the Congress, Representative King successfully secured the votes to pass the first-ever federal study on the high rate of breast cancer on Long Island; won approval of a comprehensive plan to rebuild the damaged beaches on Long Island's south shore; and is leading the effort to construct the LIRR East Side Access Tunnel. He is an advocate of tax relief for working families, safeguarding social security and Medicare, and strengthening our national defense.
Dr. Robert A. Scott launched Adelphi's President's Series on Critical Issues to provide students, scholars, and distinguished guests with a forum in which to explore critical local, regional, national, and global topics, such as the environment, health, politics, law, and government regulations.
