Hayden Planetarium Director Neil deGrasse Tyson to Speak at Adelphi University on September 30, 2003

Adelphi University will host a lecture by renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Museum of Natural History, on September 30, 2003 at 7:00 PM in the school’s Ruth S. Harley University Center, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The lecture, "The Sky is Not the Limit," is free and open to the public.
As the Frederick P. Rose director of the Hayden Planetarium, Dr. Tyson uses the facility’s state-of-the-art equipment to help a new generation explore the final frontier. He was one of 12 experts appointed by President Bush in 2001 to examine the future of the U.S. aerospace industry. Dr. Tyson’s contributions to the public appreciation of the cosmos have recently been recognized by the International Astronomical Union in their official asteroid of "13123 Tyson."
In addition to dozens of professional publications, he has written and continues to write for the public. Tyson’s recent books include a memoir The Sky is Not the Limit: Adventures of an Urban Astrophysicist; companion book to the opening of the new Rose Center for Earth and Space, One Universe: At Home in the Cosmos; and a Q&A book on the universe appropriate for all ages titled Just Visiting This Planet. He received his BA from Harvard University, MA from The University of Texas, and his Ph.D. from Columbia University.
