Adelphi Hosts Best-selling Author of The Tipping Point as Part of Its Fall Cultural Calendar

Garden City, NY
September 23, 2003

Best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell will speak on his book, The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference as the guest lecturer in Adelphi University’s Lindemann Lecture in Human Development on October 15, 2003 at 7:00 PM in the school’s Ruth S. Harley University Center at 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference was published in 2002 and created a revolution in the business world. The title of his book comes from the world of epidemiology and refers to that moment in an epidemic when a virus reaches critical mass. Gladwell draws from the sciences of psychology, sociology, and epidemiology to explain the tipping points in the worlds of business, education, fashion, and media. The book presents a new way of understanding why change so often happens as quickly, and as unexpectedly, as it does.
Malcolm Gladwell is a staff writer for The New Yorker. Since the publication of The Tipping Point, he has frequently served as a consultant to business and industry because of the innovative concepts suggested in his book. Prior to joining The New Yorker, Gladwell was a reporter for The Washington Post where he started as a science writer, and later became the New York City bureau chief.
