Adelphi University's Amnesty International Hosts Human Rights Forum

Garden City, NY
November 10 2003

Adelphi University's Amnesty International will host a discussion on human rights in the Middle East, "When Will the Violence Stop?" on November 17, 2003 at 1:00 PM in the school's Ruth S. Harley University Ballroom, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. Student panelists from Adelphi's Amnesty International, Muslim Student Association, Hillel, and History Club will provide insight and broaden awareness of the troubling human rights situation between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Adelphi University students, faculty, administrators, and area residents are invited to participate in a stimulating dialogue on this important topic.
"Our goal is to shed light on the effect of the ongoing violence between Israel and the Palestinian Authority on civilian populations," said Ewa Sobczynska, president of Adelphi's Amnesty International. "While much has been written about the political aspects of the dispute, Amnesty International wants to engage the Adelphi student community in a discussion about the human rights dimension of the situation."
Adelphi University students are encouraged to voice their opinions in Amnesty International's open forum, the third in an ongoing series of debates addressing pressing human rights issues.
