Adelphi University's newly launched Global Studies Institute will host its inaugural annual lecture, "The Outlook for Global Trade," by Federal Reserve Bank of New York Assistant Vice President, Dr. Howard Howe on December 11, 2003 at 11:00 AM in the school's Alumni House, 154 Cambridge Avenue, Garden City, NY. The Institute will simultaneously release its first research report by Institute Director and Adelphi University Professor Pearl Kamer, An Overview of Global Business and Financial Conditions: 2003–2004, a summary of current business conditions in Western Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, Canada, and Mexico for area business leaders.

"The growth of the Internet and recent improvements in transportation and communications technologies have made it easier and more important for area businesses to engage in global trade," said Pearl Kamer, Adelphi University School of Business professor and director of the Global Studies Institute. "Adelphi created the Global Studies Institute to keep the regional business community updated on changing market conditions and equip students with a global perspective for future business careers."

The Institute will pursue its dual mission through conferences, workshops, and research reports dealing with pertinent trade topics for area business leaders and Adelphi students. Internship opportunities will enable Adelphi students to hone their research skills and prepare for careers in international business.
