His Excellency, His Royal Highness Prince Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein to Address Adelphi University on December 3, 2003

Adelphi University's International Initiatives Committee will host a lecture by Permanent Representative of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and His Excellency, His Royal Highness Prince Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein on December 3, 2003 at 11:00 AM in the school’s Ruth S. Harley University Center Ballroom located at 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The lecture, "The Challenge of the International Criminal Court" is free and open to the public.

Prince Zeid was appointed as Jordan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in August 2000. In September 2002, he was elected as the first President of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, a post he will hold for three years. Currently, he is Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Scope of Legal Protection under the Convention on the Safety of United Nations and Associated Personnel, as well as the coordinator for the Non-aligned Movement on Peacekeeping.

Prior to his appointment as the Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Prince Zeid served as Jordan's Deputy Permanent Representative from 1996 to 2000. He served in the Jordanian military, and was a political affairs officer with UNPROFOR in the former Yugoslavia from 1994 to 1996. Prince Zeid has a Ph.D. from Cambridge University.

Adelphi’s International Initiatives Committee (IIC)is a campus-wide group of faculty, administrators, and students charged with infusing courses and campus events with internationalized content.
