Senator Steve Saland to Speak at Adelphi University's Hudson Valley Center in Honor of Social Work Month

In honor of Social Work Month, New York State Senator Stephen Saland will discuss social welfare legislation at a free talk on Thursday, March 18 at 5:00 PM at Adelphi University's School of Social Work's Hudson Valley Center at 457 Maple Street, Poughkeepsie, NY. Social work professionals are invited to attend the free event, which is co-sponsored by Adelphi University and the Hudson Valley Division of the New York State National Association of Social Workers.
Senator Saland represents the 41st Senate District, which includes all of Columbia County and most of Dutchess County. In addition to serving as deputy majority leader for federal/state relations, he is chairman of the Senate Education Committee. He previously served as chairman of the Children and Families Committee and was responsible for reforming the state's domestic violence law by drafting the "Family Protection and Domestic Violence Intervention Act." Senator Saland is the author of more than 290 laws affecting a wide variety of areas, including criminal justice and victims' rights, domestic violence and child abuse, and economic development and environmental protection.
