Garden City, NY

Adelphi University's International Initiatives Committee will host a lecture by Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the United Nations Luis Gallegos, on March 31, 2004 at 4:30 p.m. in the University's Ruth S. Harley Ballroom. The lecture, "The Future of the UN: Is Reformation a Reality?" is free and open to the public.
Ambassador Gallegos was appointed as Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the United Nations in April 2002. Prior to that posting, he was his country's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva. In a career that spans over three decades, he has held positions including Ambassador to El Salvador, Minister in the Ecuadorian Embassy, and Counselor in the Embassy of Ecuador in the United States. Ambassador Gallegos holds a M.A. from Tufts, a diploma from the Institute of Advanced National Studies, and a doctorate from the Universidad Central, Ecuador.
The International Initiatives Committee (IIC) is a campus-wide group of faculty, administrators, and students charged with infusing courses and campus events with internationalized content. The IIC allows the University to offer dynamic programs such as its acclaimed Ambassador Series in intimate settings so students, faculty, and the public have the opportunity to hear first-hand, global perspectives on issues of international concern.
