Adelphi Offering Students RealNetworks' Rhapsody Service at an Unbeatable Price: Free

Garden City, NY
October 2004

Adelphi University and RealNetworks® Inc., the leading creator of digital media services and software, have joined together to offer the award-winning Rhapsody® online music service free to Adelphi students who live on campus and at an 80% discount for commuters starting today.
"We are pleased to partner with Rhapsody to offer an online music service to the students of Adelphi University," said Jack Chen, Adelphi University's chief information officer. "Providing quality education is unquestionably the University's top priority. However, we at the same time, also recognize that easy and low cost access to online music is important to our students. Using the Rhapsody Service, our students will have a legal way to access a vast catalog of digital music."
Rhapsody is the number one rated digital music service, offering a legal way for music fans to enjoy unlimited access to a vast library of music from both major and independent record labels. Subscribers can stream as much music as they want from Rhapsody's library of more than 790,000 full-length songs and 60,000 albums, as well as purchase favorite tunes for just 79 cents per song. Rhapsody subscribers can also create their own commercial-free Internet radio stations featuring all of their favorite artists, listen to professionally programmed stations, and browse extensive music information and editorial recommendations.
"We're excited to be working with Adelphi and hope that the offer of free Rhapsody is music to students' ears," said Robert Acker, vice president of RealPlayer® and Music, RealNetworks. "Rhapsody gives fans a simple way to explore a wide range of music and enjoy that music from virtually any PC with a fast Internet connection. We hope Adelphi students seize this opportunity to try Rhapsody."
While the Rhapsody service will be available free of charge for students living on campus, those who commute will have to pay a nominal fee of just $2.00 a month for unlimited access, an 80% discount off the service's normal $9.95 per month fee. On-campus students will have free access to Rhapsody through the end of May 2005, after which the service will be available for $2.00 per month.
