Adelphi University Honors Jerry Landsberg at the Nursing Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on June 12, 2005

Adelphi University is proud to honor Jerry Landsberg, chairman of the board of directors for the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation and Adelphi School of Nursing Advisory Board Member, with the Outstanding Service to Adelphi University School of Nursing Award at the University's Nursing Hall of Fame Induction Dinner, an evening to benefit nursing scholarships through the Mildred Montag Endowment Fund. The dinner is scheduled for June 12, 2005 at the Garden City Hotel, Garden City, NY, beginning with a cocktail hour at 5:00 p.m., followed by dinner and an award presentation. During the evening, the University will also honor Dr. Kathleen Gallo, Ph.D. '94, M.B.A. '97, senior vice president and chief learning officer of North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System, with the Outstanding Alumna Award, and posthumously recognize Justina Eisenhauer Mickiewicz '47, former Adelphi School of Nursing faculty member and director of student relations, with the Outstanding Service to Adelphi University School of Nursing Students Award.
In addition to his service on the Board of Directors of the Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation and the Adelphi School of Nursing Advisory Board, Mr. Landsberg is the president of the Richland Group, Inc. He previously served as chairman of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies; director, president, and chairman of the Great Neck Symphony Society; and as associate trustee of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. Mr. Landsberg has had the distinction of holding numerous public offices in Kensington, New York: Trustee, Police Commissioner, Public Works Commissioner, Deputy Mayor, and Mayor.
Mr. Landsberg has received numerous honors for his civic and philanthropic work, including the Founder Society Award from the Parker Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation; the Sir Harold Acton Award from New York University; the Special Service Award from Temple Emanuel of Great Neck; and the Leadership Award from State of Israel Bonds. He is also recognized in Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Science, and Who's Who in the World of Jewry. He is a graduate of Southern Methodist University.
The Mildred Montag Endowment Fund is named in honor of Mildred Montag, the first director of the Adelphi School of Nursing, whose devotion as a nurse educator and innovative research profoundly influenced the University and led to the unprecedented expansion of the nursing profession. The Nursing Hall of Fame will be located on the main floor of the Adelphi Swirbul Library, and will include pictures of the inductees, as well as memorabilia and historic documents from the Adelphi School of Nursing.
