Adelphi University School of Social Work Assistant Professor Dr. Bradley Zodikoff Selected as 2006-2008 Hartford Faculty Scholar

Adelphi University School of Social Work Assistant Professor Dr. Bradley Zodikoff has been selected as one of twelve outstanding social work faculty members in gerontology from higher education institutions across the country to participate in the national Hartford Faculty Scholars Program, which is funded by the John A. Hartford Foundation and administered by The Gerontological Society of America. The Hartford Faculty Scholars Program aims to address the lack of adequately trained social work practitioners to meet the social and health care needs of the nation's rapidly increasing aging population. With his distinction, he will receive $100,000 in grant funding over the next two years to support his research project on "Providers' Perceptions of Barriers to Geriatric Mental Health Care."
Dr. Zodikoff, who specializes in gerontology, geriatric mental health services, and family caregiving research, has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters in professional publications. Prior to his Hartford Faculty Scholar award, he received a grant from the Mental Health Association of Nassau County to conduct a needs assessment study of geriatric mental health care services on Long Island. He holds a B.A. from Columbia College, and an M.S.S.W. and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
