Adelphi University Student Alison Stevens Wins Logo Design Competition

Garden City, NY January 19, 2007

Adelphi University is pleased to announce that Alison Stevens '07 of Miller Place has been selected as the winner of the Long Island Contractors' Association, Inc. (LICA) logo design contest. Alison will receive a $1,000 scholarship, and the winning logo will be placed on promotional materials, including stationery, business cards, and brochures. In addition, Adelphi’s graphic design program will be awarded $500.
The competition, which was judged by LICA’s board of directors, was open to students at all Long Island higher education institutions. The top seven designs were created by Adelphi graphic design majors. Each logo was judged for its creativity, originality, clarity, as well as wide appeal to LICA’s firms.
"While Alison faced challenging competition from other artists, her exemplary design was selected as the one that best depicted the identity LICA wishes to have in our Long Island community," said LICA Executive Director Marc Herbst. "We congratulate Alison and her Adelphi classmates. The LICA board members were very impressed with all the design finalists coming from the school’s graphic design program."
