Adelphi University Honors Robert M. Moldwin ’80, M.D., F.A.C.S. with the Ruth Stratton Harley Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award at its 111th Commencement Ceremony

Robert M. Moldwin '80, M.D., F.A.C.S., will receive the Ruth Stratton Harley Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from Adelphi University at its 111th Commencement on Monday, May 21, 2007. The ceremony will begin at 10:00 AM in the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 1255 Hempstead Turnpike, Uniondale, NY.

Dr. Moldwin holds a number of appointments at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, NY, including associate professor of clinical urology and physician-in-charge of urologic infectious/inflammatory diseases. He is the director of the Urological Pelvic Pain Center in the Smith Institute for Urology at North Shore-LIJ Health System. He is an internationally recognized leader in the field of pelvic pain syndromes. He often serves as an advocate and expert consultant, lecturing to audiences of colleagues, patients, and members of the media on topics such as incontinence in men and women, urological health, interstitial cystitis, prostatitis, and pelvic disorders.

Dr. Moldwin serves on several medical advisory boards, including the Interstitial Cystitis Association (ICA) and recently received ICA’s highest clinical honor, the “Award of Excellence,” for work in his field. He is affiliated with numerous medical societies, including the International Association for the Study of Pain, American Urological Allied Association, and American Association of Clinical Urologists, among many others. He is the reviewer for the Journal of Urology, Urology, The Medical Letter, and The Journal of Pelvic Surgery. He is also board certified as a diplomat with the American Board of Urology.

Dr. Moldwin is a resident of Merrick, NY. He earned his undergraduate degree from Adelphi University and his medical degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, IL. He completed residencies in general surgery and urology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He served as a Valentine Fellow, studying infectious and inflammatory urological diseases in the department of urology at Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA.

The Ruth Stratton Harley Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award was established to salute Ruth S. Harley, dean emerita and member of the Adelphi College Class of 1924. The award is given each year by the Adelphi University Alumni Association on behalf of the president of the University to honor an Adelphi University alumna or alumnus for remarkable achievements in business or professional life, or for distinguished accomplishments through service to his or her community, state, or country.
