Adelphi University is pleased to welcome Noreen Harrington ’81, who will deliver a lecture, “Perspectives on Corporate Fraud,” on Thursday, September 27, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in Adelphi’s Ruth S. Harley University Center Ballroom, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The lecture is open and free to the public.
Noreen Harrington revealed the misconduct in the recent mutual fund scandals. Her efforts, along with those of then New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, have led to the end of late trading and market timing abuses, and created industry reforms that benefit and protect an estimated 95 million investors. She serves as co-chief investment officer of Alternative Institutional Partners. Previously, she was an adviser to Alternative Asset Managers LP, a private investment boutique that provided capital to start-up hedge fund managers. She has built two family offices for the owners of the New York Mets and for the owners of the Hartz Mountain Group. She has served as chief information officer specializing in Fund of Hedge Funds for both offices.
Ms. Harrington’s Wall Street career started two decades ago. She was a managing director at Goldman Sachs, head of hedge funds and non-dollar sales in the Fixed Income Division on the global scale; co-head of Barclays Capital Fixed Income, and a member of its management committee.
Ms. Harrington holds a bachelor of science degree in education from Adelphi University. She has received various industry awards, including Top Fifty Women in Finance (1997), Titan of the Year (2003), Compliance Person of the Year (2003), among others. She is a founding member of 85Broads, the Goldman Sachs Alumni Women's Network, and 100 Women in Hedge Funds.
