Students who join the interdisciplinary program will earn a master's degree in general psychology and a certificate in human resource management. Students will take several industrial/organizational and psychology courses designed to prepare them for a position in the business field with an emphasis on human resource management. Graduates will be ready to take positions, and advance within careers that help organizations address the growing demand for improved productivity, quality of work-life, and retention rates.
The innovative 36-credit program can be completed in one year by taking four courses in the fall, spring, and summer. The program includes core business courses in organizational behavior, developing world-class human resources, executive theory and assessment, human resource planning and policy, performance appraisal and compensation, as well as core psychology courses in statistics, personality psychopathology and diagnosis, consciousness and cognition, developmental psychology, and research design. Students will choose two other electives in either program. Most courses are offered evenings and some are held on Saturdays to accommodate the needs of busy working professionals. The program will provide students with the essential management and problem solving skills to plan, control, and direct organizations for effective and efficient use of human resources, as well as apply principles of psychology and organizational behavior.
