President Robert A. Scott Helps More Than 405 Freshmen Move into Adelphi University Residence Halls on August 22, 2007
Wednesday, August 24, 2007 was a momentous day for the Class of 2011, Adelphi's largest in 20 years. With characteristic energy and optimism, more than 405 residential students along with their families hauled packages of all sizes and sorts into Adelphi's residence halls. Adelphi faculty and administrators, including President Robert A. Scott in his annual tradition, were on hand to assist.
Roommates weren't the only ones greeting each other in person for first time. Residence hall directors and attendants were also out in force welcoming students to campus. Meghan Lafronz-Emberger M.A. '07, a residence hall director in Waldo Hall, enthusiastically greeted students and gave them the keys to their new homes and other gifts. Students were then guided to their rooms on the third and fourth floors, where Chinese-themed decorations brightened the halls. Ms. Lafronz-Emberger and her team filled students in on the activity programs and contests that would be held throughout the semester to help students get to know one another. "We want to serve the residents' needs and interests," said Ms. Lafronz-Emberger. The first activity, fittingly called Break the Ice, was held on the following Saturday.
