Adelphi University is pleased to present Pulitzer Prize-Winning Playwright Lanford Wilson's The Rimers of Eldritch, directed by Professor and Department of Performing Arts Chair Nicholas Petron, from February 19 through February 24, 2008. All productions will be held at the Herricks Community Center, 999 Herricks Road, New Hyde Park, NY. Tickets are free and seating is limited.

The Rimers of Eldritch is an intense mystery play set in a small Midwest town of Eldritch. The play revolves around a murder trial and an unrelated sexual assault of a young woman. In Rimers, Wilson explores false morality in Bible Belt America through the attitudes and relationships of the devastated characters, whose desperation pushes them to the limits of religious sanctimony and social intolerance.

Wednesday, February 20, at 6:30 PM (Discussion to follow with the entire cast, director, and designers)
Thursday, February 21, at 7:30 PM

All mainstage productions and dance performances for the 2007-2008 season are scheduled at Herricks Community Center. Currently under construction and due to open in fall 2008, the new 53,000 square-foot performing arts center at Adelphi's Garden City campus will serve as a new cultural arts venue to be enjoyed by members of the Adelphi community as well as area residents. The center will include an upgrade and expansion of Adelphi's 32-year-old Olmsted Theatre, as well as a 500-seat music concert hall, dance theatre, and a state- of-the-art black box theatre. The new center will enable Adelphi to host the most sought-after artists and world-class performers as well as performances by regional middle and high school students and Adelphi students.
