Adelphi University is pleased to welcome International Peace Academy President Terje Roed-Larsen to discuss "The Changing Geo-Political Landscape of the Middle East: Implications for Diplomacy" on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. in the Ruth S. Harley University Center Ballroom, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The lecture, sponsored by the University’s International Initiatives Committee, is free and open to the public.

In addition to serving as president of the International Peace Academy since January 2005, and as the United Nations Secretary-General’s special envoy for the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1559, President Roed-Larsen also is the founder and director of Fafo Institute for Applied Sciences in Oslo, Norway. The Fafo Institue was central in developing the communication channel that consequently led to the Oslo Peace Accords and the signing by Israelis and Palestinians of the Declaration of Principles at the White House on September 13, 1993.

The International Initiatives Committee is a campus-wide group of faculty, administrators, and students charged with infusing courses and campus events with internationalized content. The IIC allows the University to offer dynamic programs such as its acclaimed Ambassador Series in intimate settings so students, faculty, and the public have the opportunity to hear first-hand, global perspectives on issues of international concern.
