Adelphi University Co-Sponsors the Seventh Annual Partnerships in Health Conference

Adelphi University is pleased to host and co-sponsor with HealthNets, Dilworth & Barrese, LLP, Roslyn Savings Foundation, State Bank of Long Island, and the health section of New York State Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, the 7th annual Partnerships in Health Conference, on Friday, March 28, 2008, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the second floor of Adelphi’s Ruth S. Harley University Center, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The annual conference will bring together health care professionals, educators, and students to improve the health of today’s youth.

Several workshops on various topics, such as violence prevention, stress management, sex education, and technology resources will be offered. The conference will include a keynote address by Dr. Gregory A. Dale, professor of sport psychology and sport ethics at Duke University, who will present "Credible Teaching: A Model for Developing Teachers who Changes Lives." He also serves as the director of the Mental Training and Leadership Program for Duke Athletics. He is a former elementary, middle, and high school teacher in New York City and San Antonio, Texas. He has authored three books and several scripts, and served as an expert on a series of 11 videos on leadership and performance. Dr. Dale has appeared on Good Morning America, Court TV, and MSNBC, as well as numerous national radio programs.

HealthNets, a professional organization that promotes the exchange of ideas in teaching and research among health educators, was founded in 1997 by two Adelphi University faculty members. Through this organization, members can network and communicate year-round sharing news and information about new and innovative teaching methods, research strategies and conferences in the field.
