Mark Crispin Miller |
Provocative Political Author Mark Crispin Miller to Speak
at Adelphi University on September 17, 2008

Garden City, NY
August 25, 2008

Adelphi University is pleased to welcome dynamic author and candid election advocate Mark Crispin Miller for its annual Constitution Day event to discuss his newest book in the lecture, “Loser Take All: America’s Election Mess—and How to Fix It” on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ruth S. Harley University Center Ballroom, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The lecture, to be followed by a book signing, is sponsored by ICAN: Imagine Change Act Now Collaboration Project, the Department of Political Science, V.O.T.E.R., and Pi Sigma Alpha, and is free and open to the public.
In his lecture, Dr. Miller will lend the audience a new perspective on electoral politics, with a spotlight on the upcoming presidential election. Dr. Miller’s most recent publication, Loser Take All: Election Fraud and the Subversion of Democracy, 2000-2008, is an anthology featuring works by a number of political experts, including Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. The collection points to a number of behind-the-scenes political stunts, including those surrounding the election and re-election of George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004, and supplies evidence suggesting the 2008 election will be similarly pilfered by partisan tricks. The collection also scrutinizes the role the media plays in propagating fraud and includes Dr. Miller’s suggestions for electoral reform, put forward in his “12 Steps to Save U.S. Democracy.”
Dr. Miller currently serves as professor of media, culture, and communication at New York University. His other publications include Fooled Again: The Real Case for Electoral Reform; Boxed In: The Culture of Television; The Bush Dyslexicon: Observations on a National Disorder; and Cruel and Unusual: Bush/Cheney’s New World Order. Also a playwright and former director of film studies at Johns Hopkins University, his play, A Patriot Act, premiered at the New York Theater Workshop in 2004. Foremost a media critic, Dr. Miller’s essays and articles have been published in newspapers and magazines nationwide. Dr. Miller received his doctorate in English from John Hopkins University in 1977.
