Adelphi University announced that tickets have gone on sale for the exclusive program, “Dream, Plan, Reach: An evening with Michael Phelps,” the day his book, No Limits: The Will to Succeed (published by Free Press), goes on sale. This event, co-sponsored by Adelphi’s Student Government Association, will take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the University’s new state-of-the-art Center for Recreation and Sports, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. A limited number of pre-signed copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.

Phelps is being lauded by many as the greatest athlete of all time with his history-making performance in Beijing setting new records for all-time gold medals won and gold medals won in a single Games. No Limits: The Will to Succeed will include insights from Beijing, the pool, and the team, giving readers an up-close view of Phelps' record-breaking performance. Phelps will also share anecdotes about his family, his coach, his passion for the sport, and lessons learned from unexpected challenges and obstacles. This special event will be an inspiration not only for fans of great, dramatic moments in sports, but also for a wider audience of fans who will take inspiration from a man and his determination to succeed.

The new Center for Recreation and Sports is home to Adelphi Panther Athletics and is comprised of a three-court gymnasium, which can be converted into a 2,200-seat arena for large competitions and events. It includes an indoor jogging track, updated training and first aid rooms for athletes, new offices for coaches and athletic staff, and multimedia conference spaces. Adjacent to the new center is a new competition field featuring premiere synthetic all-weather turf and an outdoor lighting system which makes evening practices and competition possible for the first time in Adelphi’s history. A parking structure underneath the field provides spots for more than 310 cars. Energy saving features allowed the center to qualify for Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
