Michael Phelps, the world’s most celebrated gold medalist, will appear at Adelphi University in his first college or university appearance since Beijing. Adelphi University will host an exclusive program, “Dream, Plan, Reach: An evening with Michael Phelps,” the day his book, No Limits: The Will to Succeed (published by Free Press), goes on sale in the University’s new state-of-the-art Center for Recreation and Sports. Donna de Varona, Women’s Sports Foundation’s first president and hall of fame swimmer, will introduce and moderate the question and answer session. The event is co-sponsored by Adelphi’s Student Government Association.
Phelps is being lauded by many as the greatest athlete of all time with his history-making performance in Beijing setting new records for all-time gold medals won and gold medals won in a single Games. On December 2, he became the first swimmer to earn one of sports' most coveted titles, Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year.
He will share insight into his experience at the Games, the pool, and the team, giving readers an up-close view of Phelps' record-breaking performance.
