Garden City, NY
January 27, 2009

---

Daniel Carmon

Adelphi University is pleased to welcome Ambassador Daniel Carmon, deputy permanent representative of Israel to the United Nations, who will deliver a lecture, "Israel and the United Nations," on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. in Adelphi's Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom in the Ruth S. Harley University Center, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The lecture is sponsored by Adelphi’s International Initiatives Committee (IIC), and is free and open to the public.

Ambassador Carmon has served in his current post since 2004. His career in the Foreign Ministry began in 1973. Previously he served as director of the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s Director General’s Bureau from 2002 to 2004, and from 1996 to 2000, head of the information and internet division of the Department of Public Affairs. In 1995, he was head of the Situation Emergency Room in the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem.

The International Initiatives Committee is a campus-wide group of faculty, administrators, and students charged with infusing courses and campus events with internationalized content. The IIC allows the University to offer dynamic programs such as its acclaimed Ambassador Series in intimate settings so students, faculty, and the public have the opportunity to hear first-hand, global perspectives on issues of international concern.

For more information about this and other events, please visit www.adelphi.edu, or call the University’s Cultural Events Hotline at 516.877.4555.
