Gary Rosenberg M.S.W. '63 Elected to Adelphi University Board of Trustees

Adelphi University has elected Gary Rosenberg M.S.W. ’63 to its Board of Trustees. Dr. Rosenberg is the Edith J. Baerwald professor of community and preventive medicine and chief of the Division of Social Work and Behavioral Science at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He will serve on the Academic Affairs committee and the Finance and Administration committee.

“Gary Rosenberg is a distinguished and accomplished member of the community and widely-respected in the health field,” said Adelphi University Board of Trustees Chairman Thomas F. Motamed ’71. “His experience and breadth of knowledge will complement and support Adelphi’s Board.”

“I am deeply honored to join the strong leadership of the Board of Trustees and look forward to working closely with President Scott at my alma mater,” said Dr. Rosenberg. “I share the commitment to the mission and advancement of the University for years to come”

Dr. Rosenberg is devoted to contributing and improving the community. Prior to his current position, he was executive vice president of the Mount Sinai Medical Center and a member of the senior management staff for 32 years. He maintains an active role on nonprofit boards and is the president of the Board of the Center for Social Administration, president of the Board of Senior Health Partners, and a member of the Board of Directors of Job Path.

Dr. Rosenberg’s research interests include studying the transmission across generations of drug use, abuse and aggression, identifying the protective and resiliency factors in children, and effective management of public health and nonprofit organizations. He is the editor-in-chief of two peer-reviewed journals on health policy and practices and on mental health.

He has been honored with numerous awards, including the Outstanding Alumni Award from Hunter College and Adelphi University, and the Founders’ Day Award from New York University. He is a fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and a member of the National Academy of Practice.
