Adelphi University to Host the 2009 Long Island Center for Nonprofit Leadership Summit

Summit 2009: The Future of Nonprofit Organizations—A Brave and New World, will be held at Adelphi University’s Ruth S. Harley University Center, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, New York, on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Summit, hosted by the Long Island Center for Nonprofit Leadership, addresses the challenges and opportunities that nonprofit organizations face today. Nonprofit executives, board members, funders, consultants, emerging leaders, and development professionals will participate in workshops led by national experts.

The Summit features two renowned authors and speakers on nonprofit issues: Kim Klein and Peter Brinckerhoff. The morning keynote address, The Best of Times, will be delivered by Ms. Klein, founder and publisher emerita of the Grassroots Fundraising Journal. Executive Director of the Long Island Community Foundation, Suzy D. Sonenberg M.S.W. ’76, will be honored during the Summit luncheon. The day will conclude with the Joseph L. Vigilante lecture, Generation Change: Leading in a New Nonprofit World, introduced by Adelphi President Robert A. Scott and delivered by Peter Brinckerhoff. Mr. Brinckerhoff is an award-winning author and three time recipient of the Best Nonprofit Book award from the Alliance for Nonprofit Management.
