Adelphi University is pleased to honor Christopher C. Giamo at the 21st Annual Golf Classic on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Hempstead Golf and Country Club, 60 Front Street, Hempstead, NY. Mr. Giamo is the metro president for TD Bank’s Suburban New York/Connecticut Market, which encompasses Long Island and Westchester County, New York, and Connecticut.

Mr. Giamo has more than 17 years of banking experience and has served as a Commerce Bank senior executive for the past decade. He is responsible for all retail, consumer, commercial lending, and government banking activities in the Suburban New York/Connecticut Market.

Mr. Giamo joined the bank as the head of its New Jersey Middle Market Lending Group. After successfully growing and building the Middle Market business, he was selected to head Commerce Bank’s Shore Region in eastern New Jersey and oversee the integration of a small acquisition Commerce made in 1999. In 2001, he relocated to Long Island, which is now headquarters for the Suburban New York/Connecticut Division.

Earlier in his career, he held positions with increasing responsibilities at Bank of New York and CoreStates Financial Corp.

In 2005 and 2006, Mr. Giamo was named one of the 100 Most Influential Long Islanders by Long Island Business News. He is a board member of the Long Island Association and serves on its Executive and Audit/Finance Committees. He is a founding board member for Veteran’s Rock, and on the board of directors for The United Way of Long Island.

A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Mr. Giamo earned his bachelor’s degree in economics, with a minor in finance.

Shotguns are scheduled at 7:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit student athletic scholarships. Last year’s event raised $100,000 in scholarship support.

Co-chairs of the event are John P. Finnerty M.S. ’77 of WJM Associates, Inc. and Stephen M. Wirth ’70 of the New York Sports and Physical Therapy Institute.
